Policy Seminars

The Beckley Foundation Drug Policy Programme is also organising biannual high-level seminars that allow politicians and experts to discuss drug policy issues away from the glare of the media, or the diplomatic restrictions present in more formal settings. There is currently a significant barrier to open debate on drug policy in the public arena, in that positions tend to be polarised between ‘War on Drugs’ rhetoric and radical liberal lobbies. From our experience of national and international negotiations on this issue, it is clear that many of the key professionals have more sophisticated views, and the seminars provide a forum for these to be developed.
